Interactions of metal ions with peptides and peptidomimetics

The team's research focuses on a broad analysis of the relationship between thermodynamics, structure and biological activity of metallopeptides.

In particular, the following are studied:

• interactions of antimicrobial peptides with Zn(II) and Cu(II) ions• the effect of peptidomimetics on the thermodynamics, structure and biological properties of their complexes

• the transport and homeostasis of Zn(II) and Ni(II) ions in pathogens; the relationship between the structure and function of zinc-binding protein complexes is determined

• the influence of the binding of biologically important metal ions on the fibrillation of proteins involved in neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases
